Conference Objective
In general, the conditions for stagflation are met when a supply shock occurs. This is an unexpected event, such as a disruption in the supply or a shortage of essential requirements or parts. Such a shock occurred during the COVID -19 pandemic with an interruption in the flow of semiconductors that slowed the production of everything from laptops to cars and appliances. High inflation is rarely accompanied by stagnation, but when the two coincide, the economy is in a state of stagflation. For example, a shock can affect all factors of stagflation such as inflation, unemployment and economic growth.
