The 1st ICAN MALAYSIA Zonal Accountants’ Conference (IAAC-IMDS 2019) is jointly organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria Malaysia & District Society (IMDS). The conference maintains strategic alliances with the Accounting Research Institute (ARI), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Institute for Strategic and Sustainable Accounting Development (ISSAD), Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA-UUM), and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

The ICAN Malaysia & District Society intends to pride itself as a community of accounting practitioners in the academia and the industry being the first District to be proclaimed as an Eminent Research District Society under the foremost and most recognised body of professional accountancy body in Nigeria. With the pool of talents in our community, it is essential to building a popular collaborative and interactive platform that will produce top-notch research activities. This will help remould and prepare accounting professionals in the digitalised world, which is to be achieved through innovation, knowledge, engagement and service.

The 2019 ICAN MALAYSIA Zonal Accountants’ Conference (IAAC-IMDS 2019) will hold at Langkawi, Malaysia between 18 - 21 February 2019. With the various technological innovations, the accounting profession like others is facing change and uncertainty. This, therefore, makes paramount the need to look inwards and explore possible ways to exploit the potential challenges and benefits of new technologies to create value not only for themselves but for the industry at large. The conference will focus on the impact of technology innovations on all types of professionals working in the accounting industry and academics to shape the future. Moreover, it will focus on what to do in response to those challenges and opportunities presented by the industrial revolution.

The conference provides an excellent opportunity for accountants to gain a wealth of knowledge from the intellectual presentation from speakers drawn from top brass in government (MDAs), professional bodies, academia and industry.
